This is a simple chicken curry marinated in curd overnight. It can be relished with rice,pulao, roti, paratha, Puri, naan etc..
Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Chicken Curry:
- For Marination
- 200 gms Dahi
- 1/2 Tsp Ginger powder
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 Tsp onion powder
- 1/2 Tsp Garam masala powder
- 1/4 Tsp Turmeric
- 1/2 Tsp Kashmiri LAL Mirch powder
- 15 gms mustard oil
- 1 kg chicken
- For curry
- 250 gms onion
- 1 Tsp Garlic Paste
- 1 Tsp Ginger paste
- 1 tsp Garam masala
- 1 Tsp Kashmiri LAL Mirch
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
- 1 Tsp Cummin
- 1 Tsp Coriander
- as per taste Salt
- 3-4 Tbsps Mustard oil
Instructions to make to make Chicken Curry
- Marinate and keep the chicken overnight in the curd mix (In the fridge).
Heat the mustard oil and add in the onion slice, when it starts browning, add in the Marinated chicken and saute it for 5-10. Then add the Ginger and Garlic paste, turmeric & Kashmiri LAL Mirch powder, Cummin and Coriander powder, salt as per taste and bhunno/ saute it further for 5-10 minutes. Add little hot water as needed to bhunno it so that the masala doesn't burn. - Then add enough hot water and close the lid and cook till the chicken meat is almost cooked. Add water as needed. The cooking time depends on quality and size of the pieces of the chicken. Atlast add the Garam Masala powder or homemade paste and cook for few more minutes and till the oil seperates from the gravy. If you want dry kind of curry with masala / gravy sticking to the chicken pieces then there is not need to add water or else add hot water and adjust consistencyof the gravy. Enjoy !
